Total Cloud Security Market, Global, 2025-2031 |
||||||
Although the cloud security market remains driven by CNAPP, the definition of cloud security is expanding into a broader and more integrated platform. CNAPP remains the foundation of enterprise cloud security, with core capabilities such as posture management, workload protection, identity security and entitlement governance, vulnerability management, compliance, and code-to-cloud visibility becoming fundamental to how organizations manage cloud and cloud-native risk.
However, customer requirements are expanding beyond preventive and posture-centric management. They increasingly need runtime context and validation, cloud and application TDR, data exposure context, AI security, and SOC-integrated operations to manage risk and detect and respond to active threats across cloud-native, hybrid, multi-cloud, SaaS-connected, and AI-native environments.
This shift is accelerating the push toward a more holistic and extended cloud security platform. Organizations are no longer looking only for tools that identify misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, or excessive permissions. They need a unified operating model that can correlate data and signals across infrastructure, workloads, containers, K8s, serverless environments, identities, data, applications, APIs, AI systems, and runtime activity to identify critical risks, reduce operational overheads, validate vulnerability, exploitability, and exposure in runtime, detect and respond to active threats, and coordinate remediation across DevSecOps, CloudSec, AppSec, and SecOps teams.
Frost & Sullivan envisions this as an extended cloud security (XCS) platform that extends beyond traditional CNAPP by integrating cloud infrastructure security, workload protection, identity governance, data security, application and software supply chain security, AI system protection, exposure management, and operational detection and response into a single unified architecture.
