As more electric vehicles have been driven on the road, more attention from governments and corporates has been drawn to waste battery from those electric vehicles. Governments have come up with regulations on waste battery which, if not treated properly, may bring about the environmental issues and explosion risks due to heavy metals and toxic gas. Companies have been quick to find a new opportunity for raw material supply from waste battery recycling and a new business in relation to the reuse of waste battery.

These days, there have been increasing needs in treatment of waste battery which is obtained as recalled battery or waste battery from electric vehicles in countries where electric vehicles were introduced earlier than others. As the price of raw material has continuously risen, OEM/Cell/material companies tried to find partners in the recycling sector to secure the supply of key metals, which rapidly changed the landscape of electric vehicle and battery industry.
