This study categorizes virtual healthcare assistants into patient-facing and clinician-facing. Patient-facing assistants leverage AI algorithms, such as natural language processing, generative AI, and machine learning, to help with symptom checks, appointment scheduling, medication reminders, and general wellness. Clinician-facing assistants help doctors, nurses, and care teams reduce their administrative burden and improve efficiency through medical documentation, diagnostic support, and workflow automation.
