A Power MOSFET is a metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) created for handling significant power levels. It is used to increase switching speeds and prevent energy loss in a variety of electronic devices such as industrial facilities and electric vehicles. The growing focus on energy conservation and the depletion of fossil fuels has led to a shift toward using renewable sources of electricity. As a result, the demand for power MOSFETs has increased.

A MOSFET's channel resistance must be extremely low if it is to operate at high current levels. This is especially important in high-power applications because the excessive power dissipation can damage or burn up the MOSFET, causing short circuits and consequently system failures. The lower the MOSFET's channel resistance, the less energy is wasted - and therefore, the more efficient the device will be.
